Mountain Biking Victoria Park Downhill Trails
#7 of 193 mountain bike trails in South Island
The Victoria Park tracks are for those who like it steep and ugly! There are several serious downhill trials in the park that you probably won't want your cross country bike near.
Actually, there is quite a bit of variety. The track map on the Christchurch City website (google it) lists two easy trails, four intermediate, five advanced, two expert, and six extreme.
The park is not very visitor friendly - its hard to find your way around even with the map but there are signs here and there. One track that is easy to find is Brake Free. It's a short and sweet intermediate trail. It will probably lead you into Sesame Street, a twisty, jumpy advanced trail that won't try to maim you.
There are jumps all over the park. If you love air you'll be right at home...

From Christchurch head up Dyers Pass Road to Summit Road and turn left. You'll find the car park on your left within a kilometre. Alternatively, take Victoria Park Road into the bottom of the park and use one of the many car parks there and ride up hill till you come to the trails.

Awesome trails, from easier beginner trails (sesame street, dazzas) to steeper more technical downhill tracks. there's something for everyone here if gravity is your thing.
Thank |Serious fun.. if big jumps, drops and extremely technical DH tracks are what your into, you will love Victoria park.
Thank |Great variety of proper DH tracks as well as some intermediate trail bike descents. Fun features like a wall ride, see saw, pump track and many jumps of varying levels to play around on. Quite dry in the summer but holds up well all year around. Worth a play for everyone. Plenty of dirt roads about if you get in over your head.
Thank |You're right, nye, my trail description and star rating seem to contradict. That's probably because I'm not much of a down hill rider. But all is not lost since singletracks averages the ratings of all reviewers. So go ahead and rate the trails yourself and get fellow riders to do the same. You can even edit or re-do my trail description so if you're an expert downhill rider rider feel free to go ahead and do that too...
Thank |Why did you give it a 2* review? Doesn't seem to reflect your comments?
