Mountain Biking Waterfall Glen

***   Add a review
#29 of 128 mountain bike trails in Illinois
#3,275 in the world

The main trail is a 10 mile loop. The parking lot is generously layed-out to support horse trailers. The trail is crush gravel, mostly winding through forestland. Some stretches go through an open prairie area (radio controlled aircraft section is fun to watch).

The trail has some difficult hills. The steepest hill is at the 4 mile marker. We recommend you ride the trail counterclockwise to take this hill, downhill

Pretty cool ride if you squint a little and kinda try not to notice the wideness of the track. It's a nice bite size loop rolling through the park, with interesting hills and water falls, and quite green stuff. Not bad, and the cinder surface will hold tires when all else is muddy. So cool.

We normally run this 9 mile loop, but I just bought a new bike and decided to ride the route instead. very wide, crushed gravel trail with one water crossing (bridge available as well). Good spin if you are looking for a relaxing day on two wheels.

I have worked at Argonne lab for 32 years and have used this trail system extensively in that time. It is NOT a single track trail, but it is a great trail for getting in a nice 10 mile workout. Also a terrific place in the winter if you have a fat bike or cross country ski.

Great Trail! Too bad it's in Illinois where it's only ridable 4 months out of the year!
