Mountain Biking Wheeler Peak Trail
#130 of 283 mountain bike trails in New Mexico
This trail is high alpine blast. Riding downhill, you pass views worth one million dollars as you navigate the tread. Above the tree line, the singletrack is smooth with a small occasional rock garden.
After diving below the trees, you'll run into an intersection with the High T Trail. Hang a right and continue down the smooth singletrack until you meet the Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road.
There are two things to be aware of on this trail. First, wind speeds can be incredibly high above the tree line, so be prepared. Secondly, there is a large snowbank on the trail that remains until early July. Enjoy!

From the Bull-of-the-Woods trailhead, continue into Taos Ski Valley on Twining Road. After turning left on Phoenix Switchback Road, you'll meet the Northside gate. Continue past it on bike and onto the Bull-of-the-Woods Mountain Road. Once the road goes into a meadow, continue to the meadow's far side and turn right onto Frazer Mountain Road. Ride Frazer Mountain Road above the tree line, stopping at an intersection with another overgrown doubletrack. Turn left and soon you'll come to the intersection with Wheeler Peak Trail.
