Mountain Biking White Pine Mountain
#352 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
This route begins on Buckhorn Canyon Rd., a well-traveled gravel road, about 10 miles to Box Prairie and Forest Road 100. Take a right on FR 100 to the top of West White Pine Mountain where an old lookout tower used to stand. FR 100 is an old forest road that is steep, rocky, and eroded. This route has over 3500' of climbing. An option here is to continue up Buckhorn Canyon Rd., after descending FR 100, another mile to Monument Gulch. Take it to Old Flowers Rd, and take that to Stove Prairie Rd. and return to Buckhorn Canyon Rd. for long and popular loop. Buckhorn Canyon Road can be busy with cars and ATVs. The scenery from the top of West White Pine Mountain are spectacular.
