Mountain Biking Windrock Bike Park

****   Add a review
#2 of 202 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
#137 in the world

This trail is currently being constructed and only spanned about 6 miles at the time of this writing. The trails are extremely technical (much more than any in the area) and include some difficult climbs, a small jump line where all jumps can be bypassed, fast and flowing singletrack, and very steep, rocky, and technical descents. The trails are designed/made by an ex-professional downhill racer, which explains the difficulty level. As of now, it is an out-and-back with small loops that can be redone if desired. The planned extension (I think) will make a complete loop. Volunteers are free to work on the trail if desired.

Update 11/25/16:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Windrock Park is opening a new uplift assisted mountain bike park in Oliver Springs, Tn. The bike park features nine trails including a new flow trail and improved intermediate terrain.
"The terrain at Windrock Park is amazing and anyone who has ridden the mountain bike trails can see that the potential has always been huge," said Neko Mulally, professional mountain bike rider who, along with fellow professional biker Sean Leader designed and built the park. "When the opportunity came up to develop the trails into something bigger, I had to jump on it."
The bike park is laid out on 550 acres nestled in the Cumberland Mountains on the Windrock Park's property, which is a total of 72,000 acres. The park includes nine trails ranging from one mile to one and a half mile long each dropping 1,100 vertical feet taking an average of five to ten minutes to complete. There are connector trails to give riders the option to combine trails.
"We have designed the bike park to best utilize the natural terrain of the mountain," said Mulally. "We improved the existing trails to add flow and added new trails to put together a really fun layout."
The shuttle will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm from November to May and be available for private bookings during the week. Riders can self-shuttle Monday through Friday. The shuttles will run every 10 minutes and can fit 25 riders and bikes per shuttle. The trails will be continuously maintained to provide the best riding experience.
To ride at the park, you must purchase a pass, which can be obtained at the Windrock General Store located at 912 Windrock Road, Oliver Spring, TN. For all the information, visit windrockbikepark.com.

World class Downhill, although there are some green trails. Blue trails at this park would black or double black at other parks.

This is not a trail your average rider can handle. I thought I was well above average and I was barely able to manage Talladega one of their easier trails. The YouTube videos on this trail make the trail look way easier and less steep than it really is.

The entire trail is extremely bumpy and the turns are very tight and steep. If you want to chicken out, you can't. Even trying to walk down will be a challenge. I got a flat on my second pass, I know. If the trail was not so bumpy it would be a lot more manageable, but still very taxing on your upper body.

Still a great trail if you possess the skills. The day pass with shuttle fee is just under $50. The store was very reasonable is price. I got decent goggles for about the same price as online.

The Imba rules dont really apply to the trail. Most of it is really wide, but the rideable section is very narrow.

The flow trails I seen on youtube i was not able to find. The top section was closed. I am not sure that's where they were. I rode 16 miles of this trail. Basically the same 5 sections over and over again.

Windrock Bike Park is on another level. This place is crazy steep pictures and videos do not do this place justice. It is a trail you have to see for yourself. The trails are kept up pretty well considering how steep and fast erosion can take place. Windrock has everything jump lines flow trails, and crazy tech with unbelievable amount of gnar. Most of the non pro lines are "rollable". Luckily for me and my group we were shown some of the lines on windmill by one of the trail designers. Awesome dude that quite literally saved our lives. If you go to windrock and plan to use your own bike please make sure that your brakes are in great working order, new pads etc. I would also recommend having a full squish. Windrock has 2 blues, black diamonds & double blacks. The blues here are blacks everywhere else so keep that in mind.

Place is awesome. However, I often ride black diamond at home (southeast Michigan) and got five minutes into this and turned back. Very narrow and technical trail. Lotsa rocks.......some loose, some not loose. And we were on the easy part.

The Windrock Bike Park is one gnarly place to ride. It's definitely not beginner friendly, so if you're looking for an intro to park riding, look elsewhere. That said, if you like rugged, steep, (mostly) natural terrain, Windrock is the place to be. Great atmosphere.

This is a mess. Awful trail. Don't waste your time. There are simply too many good places to ride than to fool with this...unless you're "four wheelin'".

These trails are new and still under construction but still provide an amazing ride. They are extremely technical and have jumps, rock gardens, drops, and about anything you want. They have awesome downhills, hard climbs, and flowy singletrack. In short, they are awesome! Not for beginners, as they are very technical and are a great place to work on your skills. This is much more technical than anything in the area and is great if you are a local looking for something new. It may be my new favorite...
