Mountain Biking Witchback

*****   Add a review
#114 of 300 mountain bike trails in Virginia
#4,356 in the world

Trails starts at Angler's park to the left of the restrooms.Follow the signs to the Witchback connector from the Angler's ridge trail.A CCW ride would be the best. The trail consist of three loops,Waste water,Lakeside and Cliffside. You will encounter several short steep climbs from 50' to a couple hundred yards.Lots tight twisting trail with dips and humps and two rock gardens.Near the end before crossing the road are the Swoops. You can carry enough speed to do these four swoops without pedaling.Witchback is part of the Orange Loop. If you choose to do the Orange will add up to 15.5 miles when including White Fawn and Hidden Hollow.Witchback is the most difficult trail at Angler's followed by Hidden Hollow.

This trail is a lot of fun. I need to get in better shape for some of these climbs, as they are tough! All of it paid off with the descents though.

Great trail, difficult but beautiful. An amazing ride with lots of twist, turns and gradual climbs.

The best trail in the Angler's system.Very tight twisting with lots of short steep climbs.More technical than other 29 miles of trail.
