Mountain Biking Wither Hills Farm Park
#115 of 193 mountain bike trails in South Island
There are heaps of options for a good variety of rides on this working sheep farm with magnificent views over plains, mountains and sea. ---
The Rifle Range track is the only specific mountain bike trail. It's an easy and very pleasant trail to take around the base of the hills as you head back to your car or to town. ---
The fitness challenge is to ride up the 400 metres to the summit of Mount Varnon. The views are stupendous on a good day. On a bad day you don't want to be there! The best way up is perhaps via Mapp Track and Cob Cottage Track. I went straight up the Mount Vernon track but it's too steep to ride for some of the way. Another way up is from the top of the mountain bike park on the Taylor View Track. But all the trails are two way four wheel drive farm tracks so you can take your pick!

There are many points of access to the farm park on the south side of Blenheim. A good one is Redwood Street; follow it from downtown (behind The Warehouse) all the way to the end. There is a car park on the right, complete with map board. Even so, it's a good idea to pick up the excellent map available from the i-site before you head out.
