The 20km of singletrack is divided into three loops. Two loops — roughly nine kilometers each — run along the Kurkar Ridge. The Kurkar Ridge is an ancient coastal dune formed over thousands of years, created from wind-blown sands being compacted over time into solid layers of limestone and sandstone. Today, areas like the Kurkar Ridge in the Yad Mordechai Forest — which rises over 600 feet above sea level — hold strong appeal for outdoor enthusiasts, especially mountain bikers.
“[The other ridge is] a unique 1.5 km loop that traverses semi-migratory and stabilized sand dunes,” Levi told us. “This section is constructed entirely of a wooden path laid over the sand, allowing it to adapt to the shifting dunes. It is the only planned cycling trail in Israel to pass through this type of terrain.”
Designed to expand outdoor recreation opportunities in the area, the three loops are beginner-friendly and cater to riders of all ability levels. Trail users can expect a range of flow and tech, with punchy but manageable climbs and fun descents. The trails are accessible year-round, but Levi mentioned they ride exceptionally well after a day or so of rain.
