Go south on Route 604 towards Hackettstown. Turn west (right) onto Route 665 (Bilby Road). Follow this a short distance to Route 517, then go north (right). Check your odometer at this turn and turn right in 1.2 miles onto Deer Park Road. The road starts out as a two lane gravel road and narrows down to one lane, so go slow. If you make a wrong turn and find yourself in someone's driveway, just turn around and take the other fork. Allamuchy Mountain State Park entrance is about a mile up the road.
Rode here for the first time at JORBA fest. Was part of a group with riders of all ages. Trails here are much more technical (in terms of rocks and elevation gain) than the central & southern sections of the state. Some sections I cleaned, others I had to put a foot down. Loved the challenge. Just wished it wasn't a 1.5 hr drive each way.

| ThankVery sad to see new, unauthorized trails crisscrossing Deer Park. I'm all for bikes but, please stay on existing, official trails and leave the forest floor in its natural state. Please ride the coded trails or old roadbeds and only hike across the forest. Thanks, Wa
| ThankThis is my favorite trail system in the area. It has some challenging technical sections that are similar to Allamuchy North, and some flowy woods sections like Stephens. Lots of log overs, a few water crossings, so challenging climbs, and some awesome descents.
| ThankGreat system of trails for intermediate and advanced riders. Not very technical but the climbing is not for the cardio-weak. Trails vary from fire road to tight singletrack.

Only did a quick ride, so didn't get to even a fraction of the trails; but I look forward to coming back. The negatives I found were that the trails are very poorly marked (couldn't find ANY indication of what trail was what) and that there were a good number of trees down

| ThankIt has a good mixture of climbs, descents, flow, rockgardens, and even scenery. It is moderately difficult with a little bit for everybody.
Some mud, but pretty dry.
Rode Allamunchy for the first time today. Not sure if I like this place better than Harthshorne NJ or not. Both drain well after rain, You can easily ride a 10 mile loop in both with out getting bored. Allamucny has more rock. Harthshorne has some sand. Both have fast single track with interesting terrain. OK I decided, I like them both.
