Mountain Biking Staten Island Beach
#224 of 301 mountain bike trails in New York
The beach can be ridden with Non-fat bikes when the damp sand is frozen, Low tide is the best time to ride. Great view of New Jersey and the Atlantic ocean. Some nice houses on the beach. This is a great alternative when the trails get frozen over. I would not recommend this in the summer.

Pollion Avenue and the Atlantic ocean
Didn't ride the beach. Rode in Wolfes Pond. Trails need some maintenance but the trails are decent singletrack with pretty good obstacles.
Thank |If you live near the Wolf's Pond Trails, and the trails are iced over; this is a great ride to get you off of the trainer and out of the house. We were riding it in the after noon and the temp was 19 degrees F; up from the morning low of 4 degrees F. If you stay close to the water line, most of the sand has enough water in it to freeze, making it rid-able on a bike with 2.1 or wider tires. There were soft spots and areas where the ice was un ride-able.
Thank |Had the wooded trail in the surrounding area not been so icy, we would not have ridden the beach.
