Mountain Biking Burma Peak System

****   Add a review
#109 of 307 mountain bike trails in Oregon
#4,974 in the world

Ride up until there is a fork and no obvious way to go. Directly ahead an a little to the right is a trial labeled
Gonzo take that down then climb back up the road you just rode next too. Continue straight up the hill
past until you reach the white gate. Take the trail to your left. This is true single track. There is a lot of
fairly flat followed by steep downhill sections. Routs and rocks littler the trail. Few turns are banked until
you get to the lower section. Once you come out on a logging road and you don't see any sign of a trail ride
left (down) about a mile and watch for the trail to continue on your right. This section has been clear cut
and when the trial was rebuild the turns were banked and a few jumps were added. You'll come out on
another logging road. About 100ft to the right the next section of trail starts. Follow this until you reach
the road and then ride left out to Rob Mill/Ellendale.

Getting there
From Safeway in Dallas head west out Ellendale rd leaving town. When you reach Rob Mill rd turn right
(many people take two cars and leave one at the bottom of the hill by the rock quarry to avoid climbing after
finishing the trails) follow Rob Mill up to the top, you will be on some gravel. When you reach the yellow gate
park your car and start your climb. Follow the most heavily traveled logging road until you see trails from
there you will just have to find your favorite rout to the bottom.

This trail no longer exists. Tree have grown since the last review. The logging roads are overgrown with scotch broom, beautiful dandelions and berry vines. I ran into 2 other guys looking for the trail. They failed as well. The trees are planted and not old growth. The Hamilton Logging sign says that bikers, hikers and horses are welcome but except for deer and elk trails, I was the only other sign on the trail.

This is where I learned to ride. Its close to Dallas so it is convenient. Go to Santiam Bicycle in Salem for better directions and soon to come a map (*Fingers Crossed*). You'll go between blm land and some short stretches of private land. Clear cutting is not unusual.
