Fairly easy trail, not much climbing. Some hazards are the technical parts of the trail trail being along a steep drop, beginners, of if your not sure of your abilities, walk your bikes here! I'd hate to see someone fall down this again. I'm not sure how the loop works, there are SEVERAL trails and dirt roads after the steep climb coming out of the valley. Lots of exploring possible here. I got lost and ended up at some youth camp and had to ask for directions. Very busy on weekends!

From Boulder, head five miles north on US Highway 36 towards Lyons. Turn west onto Lefthand Canyon, signed for Ward and Jamestown. Five miles west, follow the right fork for Jamestown. Continue on this road through Jamestown. Maybe 1-2 miles until road turns to dirt. Once the road changes from paved to gravel, look for the Ceran Saint Vrain TH sign in approximately 1.5-2 miles on right side.
This is a nice scenic little trail that is probably worth a ride or hike if you happen to be in the area, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way just to ride it. I actually preferred to just hike it when I lived up that way.
It has been a while, but I seem to recall exploring and finding an odd network of old mining roads in that area that I also rode on. Nothing special but fun if you like to explore by yourself. There is a private land and a camp there, so be respectful and stick to forest land.
| ThankEasy trail at the outset though there are some technical spots. Very scenic as you follow the river initially. At the start you'll be riding through areas that are frequented by campers and you'll essentially be riding through campsites (though the trail is distinct and separate from these areas for the most part). Eventually the trail will get more technical with some difficult climbs (trail will branch. Left = big climb and loose rocks, right = less climb but more aggressively technical for a short spurt). Both directions will lead to Miller's Rock, a local landmark. Recommend climbing to the top for a dramatic view of the surrounding area and mountains (Long's Peak, etc.). ATV and dirt bike trails intersect at the "top". Lots of oppurtunities to make a semi-epic ride of it. Options include riding down to the town of St. Vrain, heading west towards the Peak to Peak highway, or east to who knows where.... Be careful, easy to get confused what trail one's on if not familiar with the area near Miller's Rock. Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance is planning to reroute portions and clean up areas prone to erosion fall of 2009 which should improve trail quality and signage...

| ThankColin the trail is not in Ward. It is ~ equidistant from Ward and Jamestown.Coming from nederland head north on 72(peak to peak hwy) go past ward and take right on hwy 94( you are now headed to Jamestown). It is ~ 1 mile to the trailhead on the left side of 94. Enjoy!
