Mountain Biking Collis P Huntington State Park
#32 of 113 mountain bike trails in Connecticut
State Map: http://www.ct.gov/dep/lib/dep/stateparks/maps/huntington.pdf
Huntington/The Hunt/Huny has something for everyone, beginners and experts alike. Lots of natural stunts, some killer climbs, including the Vomits; Big and Little. If you pedal to the top of one of the vomits and don't vomit you are incredible.
Home to the nationally famous CT NEMBA (New England Mountain Biking Association) Rock and Roll Trail, as seen in the October 2006 Edition of Mountain Bike Action, Black Diamond Bonanza, Most Difficult places to ride in New England.

Thank |CPHSP is one of my favorite places to trail run and mtn bike. There are a myriad of trails to choose from. There are flat/rolling carriage roads, climbs, downhills, and aggressive singletrack. That being said, if you are looking for jumps and/or drops then this is not the place. The more remote trails are better and tend to be less congested.
Thank |One big negative is the dog walkers (I, too, am a dog owner!!). The dog walkers here, like many public spaces, are incredibly irresponsible and don't follow the leash LAWS! I have been bitten 2x while running here and now carry mace, but EVERYONE's dog is the nicest and won't bite! If your dog is off their leash I won't slow down or give it any special consideration. Rules are created for a reason and meant to be followed. Simple as that.
CPHSP was horrible. It may be good for some of you cross-country riders... A lot of it is just rock gardens and climbing. There are only a few drops and rollers throughout the entire park and barely any cool features. If you live in CT, I would say Rockland Preserve in Madison is your best bet, with loads of jumps, drops, and much more!
Thank |Trails are not marked, easy to get lost.
Thank |This park has everything to keep any rider happy. Good work out.
Thank |Fun trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Trail surface is currently covered with 1-2 inches of fallen leaves though making conditions a little dangerous. (especially since there is ice forming under the leaves in some areas) But my overall opinion from my first time riding here is that it is a great spot.
Thank |Very scenic and challenging trail. Nice switchbacks and rock gardens.
Thank |I drove more than two hours four times last summer to ride here. CPHSP is the most challenging 'single track' trail w'in driving distance of where I live. The setting is rocky deep forest and is incredibly beautiful. Each time I went back I tried to ride a section that I couldn't the time before. This is a trail you need to keep coming back to and keep working on and it's worth everything you put into it. CPHSP also let me see the incredible engineering that went into my GIRO helmet when it protected my skull from a serious miscalculation on a downhill. I made it on the next ride w' a new helmet. BTW, the trail scores as blue sq but feels like a DD when you ride it.
Thank |Incredible trails here. The first time I rode the trails I was a bit lost winding around some of the trails with no map of course. some great techy stuff in the middle of the park and some great down hills too. You will love this place.
