Ride this loop either direction. Either way there will be amazing scenery, either direction there will be long singletrack climbs and awesome descending. The write up below describes a clockwise ride up Little Boulder Creek and down Big Boulder.
Aside from the road between Big and Little Boulder Trailheads, the entire trail is singletrack and open to motorcycles.
The climb up from Little Boulder Creek Trailhead starts steeply right away on good singletrack. Then becomes rocky and technical with some hiking involved. Further up the trail is forested and sweet. The section from the Chamberlain intersection to Frog Lake has some loose and rocky sections as well but is mostly ridable.
From Frog Lake there is about 2 more miles of climbing before you reach a broad saddle and the trail begins descending.
The singletrack descent is about 6 miles long and is full of berms and bridges. Lookout for hidden sharp turns after superfast sections. The upper descent is mostly pine duff and grippy. Toward the bottom some rocky sections keep you honest but are still not too technical.
Big Boulder Trailhead is at the bottom of this descent. Take the road back to your car if you parked at East Fork or Little Boulder.
Do this ride before the politicians make it wilderness!!
