Mountain Biking High Point
#168 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
This trail is named high point for a reason: it accesses the highest point in the trail system. The views of the top of the lake and the mountains in the background are phenomenal! Since it reaches the "High Point," expect the biggest climb in the trail system, and be prepared for the most technical trails as well. Still, compared to other popular trails in North Georgia and North Carolina, this is still pretty tame, but oh-so-fun!

From the MacDonald's/ Huddle House traffic light in downtown Hiawasse (US 64 west), head out of town towards Hayesville. Turn left when you see the sign for Jack Rabbit Campground( US Forest Service), over the border into NC. As you come to a bend and can see the lake, the trailhead is on the left BEFORE THE CURVE with a sign" Jack Rabbit Mountain Bike and Hiking trails". It's in a grassy field. I drove past, but saw the sign as I passed it the first time.
