Mountain Biking Made In The Shade
#84 of 417 mountain bike trails in Arizona
This is a singletrack connector that joins the Templeton Trail with the Village of Oak Creek. It is great either way but probably more fun from north to south. It has moderate climbs, great Red Rock views, and a super descent to finish.

This trail can be accessed from two points. The north entry can be found just a few yards below where the Templeton Trail intersects the HT trail. The southern entry dumps right out onto highway 179 just north of the Village of Oak Creek and across the highway from the entry to the Bell Rock parking area.
Amazing views and a mix of technical, wooded trail and slickrock. Needs to be signed better in slickrock area because it is easy to get off trail. Numerous faint trails show that I wasn't the only one with this problem.
Thank |Classic dessert singletrack with awesome views.
Thank |This trail is now officially part of the USFS trail network. Although it still doesn't show up on most local maps, it is signed on the ground. The new "official" trail name is "Slim Shady." The more technical uphill loop on the Village of Oak Creek end of the trail is still called "Made in the Shade." If you are not on your "A" game (or you don't have an "A" game), there is another new, easier connector (Coconino Trail) from the Templeton Trail to the last portion on Slim Shady.
Thank |Fun trail. Still a little sketch in spots because its not maintained by the Forest Service yet. There is a whole network of new trails built on this side of the highway now. All pretty fun.
Thank |This trail is a great addition to the Sedona network. It provides a great bang-for-the-buck alternative to the road return after completing Templeton/Baldwin. Rather than taking the road back to Village of Oak Creek, complete the Baldwin Loop back to Templeton. Right before the intersection with HT, look right for a singletrack heading south. You will get a fun, moderate climb with slickrock benches to play on. After reaching the high point, there will be a great, swoopy descent back to highway 179 that will peg most fun meters.
