Mountain Biking Manchester State Park
#64 of 115 mountain bike trails in South Carolina
The trail is about 7.5 mile loop, good condition most of the time. This trail is partially shared with motorcycles and/or horses, so be aware of this. There are probably 100 miles of trails in the forest, so don't get lost. Maps are available by calling or usually at the Bicycle staging area. Also motorcycles, dogs, horseback, hunting (turkey hunting is during april, deer hunting is oct-dec) is allowed. During hunting season ride only on Sundays! For more information: Call Park Office (803) 494-8196

"From Highway 378 (between Columbia and Sumter) Turn onto highway 261 (towards Manning), go through the small town of Wedgefield (obey speed limits), then go another 3-5 miles and look for signs for "Poinsett State Park" , turn right toward park. Go about 1 mile and on right there is a sign for "Bicycle Staging Area" at the intersection with a dirt road, park here.
Trails are abandoned, they are cutting down trees and bike club who took care of trails moved to Poinsett state park (which is 2 miles away) over there you can find ~20 miles of good trails.
Thank |I rode these trails in 2013. They are not very good at all. It could have been because there were a lot of downed trees from a recent ice and wind storm. Stay away from the old train trail. Turn around or you will get lost.
Thank |This park has some fun trails to ride and was the place I started to teach my kids trail ride. We return often, and my son and I really enjoy the Hardcore Trail. It has some nice drops and climbs, but watch the roots.
Thank |Don't ride then it's hot...88 degrees was tough.. Also pay $5/day fee to ride these trails
Thank |right now all trail crews are focusing on getting K3 in order but look for us to start on Campbell very soon.
Thank |Campbell's pond and hardcore were in miserable shape in August 2011. Not an exciting trail system.
Thank |Great trail system that includes K3, campbells pond and hardcore. K3 is 10 miles, not 7.5 as listed, no real climbing. Lots of fast open singletrack with real tight and twisting sections. The trail builders made excellent use of the natural features of the area. Some minor sand, but not enough to slow you down like at sesqui. Real good for a single-speed. Campbell's pond is about 10 miles total including the Poinset connector and a brief section of road. Very similar to K3's description. Hardcore has the most hills and is much slower than the other 2 trails, it's about 2.5-3 miles and it's trailhead is about 1.5 miles on K3. HC was still under repair in early Nov. from a motorcycle race that used part of it and signs listed it as closed.
Thank |THIS REVIEW IS ONLY ABOUT THE HARDCORE SECTION OF KILLER III. The "Hardcore" section of this trail is terrible! It starts off alright going through some singletrack with leaves and then very slightly starts uphill with some sand. Next, the tight singletrack turns into about 6 feet wide four wheeler / dirtbike trails. VERY thick dirt that you sink down into, no trail markers, just an uncomfortable ride. If you keep riding (a very tough decision for us, whether to turn around or not) you will eventually find a trailmarker and a great little singletrack. Once you start to enjoy yourself you hop right back on the four wheeler trail. Killer III by itself is a great trail. Just stick with that and if that's not enough, ride Cambell's Pond afterwards. K3 and Cambell's Pond are great. Hardcore is terrible.
Thank |Killer III is a lot of fun. Singletrack with good downhill, and optional Hardcore extension, but Hardcore is terrible. Just take Killer III, without extension it's about 10 miles. Campbell pond is pretty good. Good bit of climbing, good downhill and about 4 miles.

Thank |two trails really. killer three and campbell's pond. hardcore is a few miles extra off of killer three. climb campbell's pond and have fun on K3.
Thank |Tango has either never ridden at Manchester, or never ridden at Lynch's Woods because the two trails are about as different from eachother as night and day. Manchester is the "Killer Three" loop, and is a very easy 10 mile ride. It is impossible to get lost there. Lynch's Woods, on the other hand, is pretty technical with a lot of switchbacks, dips, roots, and other fun stuff. Plus, the trails are not just poorly marked, they are not marked at all, therefore making it pretty easy to get lost.
