Mountain Biking Ortonville trail

#169 of 322 mountain bike trails in Michigan

The trail marker numbers ascend up following the loop around in a counter-clockwise direction. There is a cut through trail from the main loop. The entire loop, including the middle cut through trail, are all double wide. If following the trail numbers in ascending order, starts with a long climb (but not overly steep). Nothing super technical to deal with (no rock gardens or significant roots), and the wide trail makes it easy to navigate for a beginner. This trail could easily be accomplished by an intermediate rider with no need for a suspension bike.

It's a nice wide trail that is free from rocks and roots. You are either climbing or flying, so it is fun to do every now and then.

This is a multi-use trail, both hiking and biking are allowed. While only three miles long, this trail packs a lot of climbing and descending in those three miles. In fact, I'm not sure if there is really any flat sections. I was either mentally coaxing myself to take just ten more pedal strokes to finish a climb, or I was rocketing downhill at 27 mph. There really was no in between. This is a trail I would probably hit 3x a year, just to mix things up.
