Mountain Biking Panther Creek State Park
#35 of 202 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
We have some friends from Virginia that moved here. They were looking for some Singletrack riding. We read that PantherCreek had some trails. We took off on our 45 min. ride not knowing what to expect. To our surprise, the trails we great. Not too rooty, with just the right amount of hills. Our friends said that it was better than the trails they rode in Virginia. We will ride there agian as soon as we can.

From Knoxville Take I 40 East toward Ashville. Right after I640 joins I40, take the first exit Hwy 11E. Take a left toward Morristown. Stay on 11E for about 30 miles. There will be a brown sign after the Morristown City liits that will lead you to the park. You may also find a map online if you search state parks in Tennessee.

Fun trails with just enough roots and rocks to keep you on your toes. Be polite to the other trail users and we can all share these gems.
Thank |Really fun place, trails aren't the best marked but it's easy to get back to the road or trail head, nice variation with some trails mostly flat, others with steeper and longer hills.
Thank |This was my favorite track at Panther Creek. I'm bringing swimming trunks next time. There is a great beach.
Thank |This place has some cool stuff. There are a few trails that are up and down hill. It's free, the trails are well-maintained, some parts get pretty technical, it's a good time. There are more trails across the road, not just the first few that you see.
Thank |This trail is so so. If your east of Knoxville there is nothing to ride so this has to suffice. The large river or lake is really nice. The trail is not really marked very well so half the time I have no clue where I'm going, but hey I'm riding. Lots of good challenging climbing and technical rocky areas. So just a heads up, some parts are for more experienced riders where it gets technical, you have to hike a bike. Nice wildlife everywhere. The trail doesn't really seem to be well thought out but just my opinion.
Thank |great place to ride
Thank |This was a nice trail, could have been marked a little better! Some spots I would rate advanced!
Thank |Great trail! Several options for trailhead selection. Well marked trails that flow nicely. One section is set for a higher level skilled rider, but overall the entire trail system is very manageable for all skill level riders. Small climbs depending on your route, nice open areas with great views. Some trail along the lake, others use the some of the gravel roads as connectors. No major obstacles, just one section of rocky technical terrain near the lake. A fun trail to ride, I will make sure to visit again when traveling through the area.
Thank |I caught this cool trail system on the way home from the Smoky Mountains. I also did the Urban Wildnerness in Knoxville but enjoyed this much more just because of the beautiful views on Trout Lily and the wildlife. Trout Lily is super short but super fun with some rocky sections that are more intermediate but the rest of the trail is intermediate beginner. I also rode Pioneer which was rooty but still an easy trail. I didn't have time to check the rest of the trails out, but enjoyed it.
Thank |Rode Pioneer last time here, really enjoyed it. I wanted something more challenging this time. So I rode Old Farm Trail, to Connector Trail, to Piney Cove Trail, to Deer Run Trail, to Trout Lily and out. Nothing to difficult expect back side of Trout Lily where as written below there is a lot of exposed rock and tight moves in around them. With the recent rain that morning it made things a bit slippery. A few hill climbs but nothing grueling. Some nice pumpers. Really enjoyed the flow and diversity of the trail. The way I rode it made for 5 mile loop on the nose.
Thank |Nice trail with a moderate, technical section of rocks. Has a few nice wooden bridges and trail is nicely maintained. Only give it a 4 due to length.
Thank |It has a nice rock drop at the start and is a fast trail once you learn the trail.
Thank |Well first time there. Took trout lily loop. I really did like it. Had a good time, it's about 2 miles long or so. Then on the way out took, Old farm trail. It's about 1.5 miles long. I am new at Mountain biking and I am 45 years old. So some spots was rough. But a very good ride.. I'll be going back.
Thank |As my local trial system I love this place. I ride it once a week in the winter and as many times as I can in the warm months. Even after riding it as much as I have I still love to get out there and just ride. This place makes my every day worries disappear. IMO it has a little of everything and it is well maintained!
Thank |Agree with other reviewers. Overall nice trail system with combo of singletrack and double track. Most of trail flows well though there are sections of rock/ root which will slow down the novice. The gradient is typical for East TN with nothing too steep. A few spots hold water in winter but higher spots dry well. Nice, yet broken, views of lake in winter. Similar but slightly harder than Bays Mtn (Chestnut, Big Oak, Chinquapin). Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Thank |Short but well designed fun trail. Would rate it as a beginners intro to single-track. Mostly rolling trail with a few rocky sections and some roots, with the Trout Lily trail being the most technical area. That said more advanced riders will still like this trail, just go faster and ride over the bigger rocks. The Panther Path and Wagon Road Trails are mostly flat and easy, populated by kids and joggers, leaving about 7-8 miles of fun single-track. Ride it once or twice in each Dir. Also take a ride up to the overlook (view worth the sweat). Just watch your downhill speed, SHARP CURVE at bottom. If I hadn't had to smoke the brakes for a motorcycle doing the 15 MPH speed limit, I'd be typing this from the road rash/ broken bone place. (GPS said I was doing 40 MPH).
Thank |This set of trails will give you a moderate workout.Very nice climbs through the forest, with a couple of fun downhill sections-nothing major though.Great for beginner ad it isn't technical.Good for intermediates because of the moderate climbs and relaxing forest scenery

Thank |This is a great trail system. Beware of the tecnical rocks at the bottom of Trout Lilly. Pioneer Trail was my fav, we have ridden Dark Mnt and OVT quite a bit and I like Pioneer better. If u have the chance check them out.
