The trail headed up hill is extremely rigorous. Some walking will be necessary at first. Follow the climb about 1.5 miles till you reach a plateau. The trail divides and heads south down to Little Elk Creek. This downhill can also be used as the climb if you want to reverse the loop. It is a horse trail with smooth singletrack and technical areas. You glide out through a great canyon with lots of MOOSE! All the way to the road. Proceed to your starting point on the road or head back the way you came.
There is an excellent Shuttle for downhill laps but you must access it with permission from homeowners. On the south side above the reservoir a gravel road cuts right up the hill about 1300 feet to the top of quite possibly the most scenic subdivision in the country. When you reach the top head right at the T and follow the four wheeler track. It leads to the trail divide to either Sheep Creek or Little Elk Canyon.
