Mountain Biking Soldiers Loop / Fairgrounds trails
#29 of 416 mountain bike trails in Arizona
Soldiers Loop makes a loop around the park with moderate ups and downs and not really any tech to worry about. Bridge Trail cuts through the center of the loop and has more more tech features to keep it interesting/challenging. There is also a spur trail that branches out into the woods (to the right if riding the loop counterclockwise) -- easy to follow, but it did not appear to get much traffic -- and winds its way down to a dirt lot/road... cue banjos.

Ride from Flagstaff toward the fairgrounds/Tuthill Park via the municipal multi-use trail. Make a right onto the singletrack Soldiers Loop trail as just as you enter the equestrian trials area.

The Soldiers loop is approximately 5 miles long that rolls through a beautiful pine forest right off the highway in Flagstaff. The trail is pretty standard but the big selling point is the skills/ jump park. Amazingly maintained and perfect for all levels to progress. If you're in Flagstaff traveling, as I was, check out Flagstaff Bike Revolution for some local knowledge.
Thank |Pretty fun trail raced here with NICA, challenging but climbable climbs
Thank |A fun trail even though much of it should receive a beginner rating. It is relatively flat (rolling terrain) but fast with good flow and fun curves.
It was pretty cool riding the trail today because there were a bunch of high school teams on the trail, getting ready for the first race of the season of the Arizona High School Cycling League tomorrow. One of the coaches told me that there will be 27 high school teams from all across AZ competing. Nice to see a whole bunch of young people out on mountain bikes. It was the first time I was ever happy to ride an overcrowded trail.
Thank |The main loop is a typical ponderosa forest ride with a couple sizable hills to get the heart rate up. However the 1.1 mile Highland Trail that bisects the area is a thoroughly entertaining technical gem that elevates an otherwise fairly mundane ride.
Thank |Great trails to ride. I love that I can rude from my fron door.
