#41 of 301 mountain bike trails in New York
The trails are a combination of Horse trails (double track) and single track. Excellent trails comparable to 909. Very flowy, uphills are rewarded with long downhills. There are several log overs and stone walls, nothing major. Stone walls are nothing compared to Lippman Park.

There are several trail heads we used the Tamms Rd one. Tamms Rd. is off of CR 42 between Circleville and Middletown.
I am no expert, but I thought the trail had enough to keep most riding levels interested, without being unrideable for a moderately fit rider of even beginner skill level. All in all, a fun place, but easy to get turned around as others have said. No biggie, if you come out on one of the roads it's an easy ride on the pavement back to wherever you parked. Just keep your phone charged so you can GPS it. Ask me how I know? :-)
Thank |This is a great place to ride especially during hunting season. We usually do about 12-15 miles in there with plenty more to do. Some spots are technical with many rockwalls, rock gardens, some tough climbs and gnarly downhills. There are also some nice flowy sections. Beware though...not very well marked but Definitely a must ride!
Thank |Started riding on the fire roads here in the 90's. My destination was "the hidden pond" bass heaven back then. Returning 20 years later there is some great singletrack, a rock garden that will make you curse Henry Rollins and the fast and fun fire roads. At least 25 miles of trails. Some areas may be tough on beginners but nothing is too crazy. Lots of fun to be had here.
Thank |First, it's a lot more than nine miles of trails. I began riding this system in earnest during hunting season at Stewart and have really been surprised. I agree with the others that it is advisable to bring a GPS. Although you're not in wilderness, it is easy to get turned around.
Thank |The trails vary in terrain from rocky/rooty to nice and fast. There are a network of well used to difficult to discern trails, all of which lend an interesting outing to those who like to explore. There are a couple of boggy areas, all of which can be easily traversed. I ride a rigid Niner and a couple of hours on these trails leaves not only my legs, but my forearms well worked. I love it there. I'm still exploring.
This is a nice challenging terrain type of intermediate trails and single tracks. Decent hills, stone walls, logs, rocks, roots and even a bear.
Thank |The state park has many miles of trails for everyone with lots of parking. Best of all, it's free!
Many trails loop around each other so use a gps and track your ride, the trails are not marked and it wouldn't be hard to get disorientated.
This is one of my local but favorite places to ride.

Definitely not just for beginners. Some short steep climbs, nice descents. An intermediate will have a blast. Includes horse & hiking trails. Trails not well marked.
Thank |Much more than beginner trails. Good climbs & fast flowing downhill. Lots of fun for intermediates.
Thank |This place surprised me. After riding the Stewart Preserve a few times, I was looking for some new surroundings. I rode in there expecting wide carriage trails and simple singletracks. I was completely shocked to find intermediate level trails. Here you can find tough climbs with loose rocks and roots followed by steep downhills with switchbacks and jumps. Advanced riders will most likely get bored but new riders to mid-level experienced riders like myself will have a blast. Bring your smartphone and gps app running like map my ride or you may get lost. Trails are not clearly marked and criss cross so getting turned around is easy. Singletracks are mostly roots with loose rocks and intermediate climbs. Some parts of trails are overgrown so bring insect repellant and a towel to sit on for the ride home. Very muddy sections.
Thank |If you want get used to hills on mixed terrain. A lot of mud. I got lost and ended up taking a 3 mile paved road ride to get back to the car.
Thank |Can either be a nice relaxing ride or a semi-intermediate ride. Some nice singletrack. Be careful of hikers, fishers, and horses. * Review edited 5/23/2012
Thank |All the trails have been leaf blown! The trails are great!
Thank |What a great place to ride if you love rocky singletrack. She definitly has her ups and downs with some great rock gardens. Not crowded but there always seems to a friendly face around if you get into trouble. I would bring my phone just on case you get lost.
