A wooden bridge spans over a flowing river, surrounded by bare trees and shrubs. The water below is slightly turbulent, indicating a recent rainfall or snowmelt. In the background, a glimpse of a building is visible through the trees, suggesting a rural setting. Wadsworth State Park mountain bike trail.

Mountain Biking Wadsworth State Park

Some really interesting singletrack installed within the last few years, some dual track, and then some really technical stuff that pops out of no where. A hidden treasure between New Haven and Hartford

    Nice easy riding at Wadsworth.

Most of the trails are smooth, with only a few areas of rocks and roots, and only a few small sections of moderate climbing.
Trails can get very busy, esp on weekends. Many walkers with dogs off leash and occasional horses with piles of crap in the middle of the trail.
Do not pay the weekend fee at the main entrance: park either at the mansion or the other end of the park in the free lot....do not park illegally or you will get a $75 ticket from the man.

This is one of the more beautiful state parks in Connecticut. Most trails are fairly easy, though at some times a little hilly, and a couple that are technical if you choose to seek them out.

The main trails tend to be wide and on weekends or busy times can contain a lot of foot traffic. Numerous side trails exist, some well marked, others not at all, and most are good quality single track with a few roots and rocks to keep you on your toes. Only the blue trail leading down to Laurel Creek, and then northeast to the wide purple trail would be considered technical, and parts of it expert.

The main parking area off Main Street (Rt 157), and the waterfall lot off Cherry Hill road can quickly fill up. I suggest you start at Wadsworth mansion's parking area (huge) and find trails leading west and down to Laurel Grove Road and into the park. There are also a few spots to park on Laurel Grove Road itself.

LBS Pedal Power leads beginner rides here weekly most of the year, and info can be found on their website.
