Pivot has just announced their brand-new Mach 429 SL Carbon. The SL Carbon shaves a half pound of frame weight (226g) off of the previous model, which is huge in the world of XC racing! Like the Pivot Mach 4 released just a few months ago, the 429SL C features full Shimano Di2 integration.
According to Pivot, this weight drop is thanks to “the use of leading-edge carbon fiber and [our] proprietary hollow-core, internal-molding process with optimized composite materials and lay-up structure – making this the lightest, stiffest 29er with the best power transfer available.”
The 429 is similar to its brother, the Mach 4, but with bigger wheels (29 vs 27.5) and a bit less suspension travel (100mm vs 115mm).
Here are the official stats from Pivot:
-
1/2lb (226g) weight savings: Frame weight from 5.3lbs (2.4Kg) and sub 23lb (10.4kg)
