We’ll admit it: we’ve fallen in love with full suspension fat bikes here on Singletracks.com. Jeff rode the Salsa Bucksaw at Interbike this year, and he dubbed it the best bike he’s ridden all year.
I’ve been waiting for this announcement all year, and now it’s finally here: the Bucksaw is coming in carbon! Yes, that’s right: the Bucksaw is officially the first full suspension carbon fat bike. However, it is interesting to note that there do still seem to be limitations to carbon applied to a full suspension fat bike. The Bucksaw’s new frame features a full carbon front triangle, carbon seat stays, but aluminum chain stays. I’ll be interested to see if they can manage to go full-carbon in a year or two.
Here are the deets from Salsa:
Why carbon? For increased chassis stiffness that further enhances pedaling efficiency and delivers an incredibly precise steering feel. The combination of knowing your front wheel is going exactly where you put it, incredible Split Pivot™ rear suspension performance, and the traction and stability of low-pressure, high-volume four-inch tires, boosts confidence, improves handling and helps you ride faster over rough terrain.
Our high modulus Bucksaw Carbon frame also provides incredible vibration damping and incredible toughness, while also being 300 grams lighter weight than a similar size alloy Bucksaw frame.
Bucksaw Carbon Complete Bikes will have an MSRP of $6499. Bucksaw Carbon Frames have an MSRP of $2699.
I for one can’t wait to ride this bike!
