Sidi makes some of the best shoes in the industry. They are light, stylish, and super durable. If you ask anyone who has owned a pair in the past, they likely will tell you they used theirs for 10+ years and are devoted to the brand for life.
The Drako SRS Carbon is Sidi’s current XC race style shoe used by many of the top pros (including world champions Nino Schurter and Julian Absalon). This shoe features a microfiber and Italian leather upper half (made via eco-friendly means!), a super-stiff carbon sole (of which most parts are replaceable), and a very nice ratcheting BOA system, the Techno-3 Push. The Techno-3 Push is designed to evenly spread the pressure across the entire foot, making for a more comfortable tight fit. Sidi also outfitted these shoes with their HSS (heel security system) to improve heel fit and reduce heel slip during climbs and sprinting.
Sidi does not publicly publish the weight of these shoes, but I found my pair (size 43) to weigh in at 375, grams which is tad heavier than comparable models in the price range. These shoes are priced at $500, which makes them one of the most expensive options on the market. I feel that you could get a lighter shoe for the same price, but I don’t think any other shoes will last nearly as long as the Sidi will.
