Commencal says their Meta TR trail bike has grown up. What they mean is the Meta TR is a 29er now, and it’s embracing its climbing capabilities as much as descending.
The new platform is built for 29-inch wheels and somehow despite the change, Commencal says the new bike has shorter chain stays than the previous 27.5-inch version. The head angle sits at 66.5-degrees and the seat angle is 74-degrees.
The U-link is new and the seat stay is thicker for added stiffness.
Details are short on the Meta TR 29 right now, but there are build specs available. The top-of-the-line model is the British edition, available in green, with 130mm of rear travel and a 150mm Fox 36 fork, Shimano XT brakes, and a SRAM GX Eagle drive train for $4,000 USD. The British edition is reminiscent of a Jaguar and is dedicated to British riding talent.
TR 29 Race and Ride editions are available for $3,600 and $2,800 respectively, both with a dropper post and SRAM’s NX Eagle drivetrain. Unlike the British edition with 150mm of travel up front, the Race and Ride bikes will ship with 140mm forks.
The bikes are available for pre-order on Commencal’s website now.
