If you mountain bike in the Southeast, there is a good chance you’ve heard of Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Getaway in Ellijay. The property is nestled in a valley near the challenging Pinhoti and Bear Creek trail systems in the expansive Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.

Beginning in 2015, Mulberry Gap will add guided rides and multi-day tours to the services they offer. From their press release:

“People who aren’t familiar with the trails and conditions here, especially the Pinhoti (pin-ho-tee) because of its vast length and terrain, can really get lost out there. We can’t even count how many times we’ve had to go out searching for riders and sometimes hikers. So the guide service will be a real help to those who’ve wanted to explore this beautiful forest with guides who can take them on any route or level of riding difficulty they could imagine,” Gates said.

In the unfortunate event of injury, the staff has been trained to handle emergency situations in the wilderness:

Mulberry Gap staff completed the Wilderness Medical Institute’s stringent, two-day National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wilderness First Aid & CPR course January 18 as a USFS requirement; USFS confirmed completion in a letter late last week.

The course is tailored for the harsh conditions found throughout the USFS’s Conasauga Ranger District and helps prepare first responders for what they may encounter in the field.
