Each year the mountain bike hall of fame inducts individuals who have contributed to the sport of mountain biking in a big way and you can vote for favorites! This year’s nominees include an athlete, race promoter, bike designer, trail builders, magazine founder, and a video producer. Reading through the bios, it’s clear each has made a huge mark on mountain biking as we know it.
Voting is open to members of the mountain bike hall of fame and anyone can join by paying the $30 membership fee. Proceeds will go to the hall of fame organization which recently moved from Crested Butte, CO to a brand new building in Fairfax, CA, pictured above. Winners will be announced at the induction ceremony at Interbike in September.
Looking over the list of nominees below, who is your favorite to snag a spot in the MTB hall of fame?
- Josh Bender (freerider)
- Glen Jacobs (pioneering freeride video producer)
- Horst Leitner (Horst linkage designer)
- North Shore Trail Builders (Todd “Digger” Fiander and “Dangerous” Dan Cowan )
- Uli Stanciu (German “Bike Magazine” founder, MTB tourism pioneer)
- Roman Urbina (La Ruta race promoter)
Voting ends August 12.

For example, Roman Urbina is said to be Costa Rica's best known adventure racer and mountain biker who just happened to create one of the first multi-stage MTB races (which I'm guessing he's ridden backward and forward over the years.)
