Last December Jeff reported on a massive trail system coming to Beatty, Nevada. We just received word: the trails in Beatty will be opening on May 2, 2015.
The grand opening will launch 7 miles of purpose-built mountain biking singletrack, along with 40 more miles of “adopted burro trail and remote two-track,” according to Cimarron Chacon of Crawling Spider.
Accompanying the May 2 launch will be a Beer and Taco festival as a fund raiser for more trails. You can get all the details here, but honestly: beer, tacos, and singletrack is like a match made in heaven. If you live in Nevada or Southern California, you should be there!

The non-profit group STORM-OV is planning to build hundreds of miles of new mountain bike trails near the town of Beatty, NV in an effort to grow tourism in the area. The Oasis Valley Recreation Enhancement Project includes long term plans for 300-500 miles of trails, large-scale races and events, and even a hut-to-hut system for bikepacking.
The town of Beatty is located about 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas and is surrounded by BLM land. The town itself is located at about 3,300 feet above sea level, which backers claim gives the town a mild climate.
