Colton Lock out in Moab, UT for Outerbike 2016 hanging out with the guys from Ellsworth Bikes and riding the Rogue Forty.
The Rogue Forty is Ellsworth’s newly-released 27.5-inch-wheeled trail bike. The Rogue Forty is set up with 140mm front and rear suspension with a very slack feeling setup, to make this bike ready for some big hits. It is outfitted with a Raceface Turbine dropper and comes in a mix of SRAM and Shimano builds. The carbon frame alone goes for $3,300, with full builds starting around $6,000.
This bike feels great especially in the rough stuff. The slack head tube combined with the 27.5″ wheels and 140mm of travel make this thing feel bigger than it really is. It did feel a bit sluggish on the climbs, which can be combated slightly with the lockout (front and rear), but this bike makes up for that with its supreme downhill capabilities. I felt extremely confident in rough terrain and on the many drop features throughout the Moab trails.
