Red Bull Rampage is a 2-day event this year and adds a women's competition. Tickets go on sale August 30. (Updated)

In June, Red Bull announced that this year’s Red Bull Rampage freeride competition would include a women’s category for the first time. This week, the energy drink brand provided a bit more information, saying both the men’s and women’s competitions will take place in Virgin, Utah as a two-day event. The women’s freeride competition will take place on Thursday, October 10 and two days later, on Saturday, October 12, the men will compete. Tickets go on sale on August 30th, and buyers can choose single or multi-day passes.

Red Bull says a full list of invited and confirmed athletes will be available at a later date. (See the updated athlete list below.) While it’s now known that both competitions will take place at the site in Virgin, UT, it’s unclear if the men and women will share portions of the same course, or if the courses will be separate. In addition to the features and lines that are available to all athletes, individual riders, along with small build teams, typically spend several days handcrafting their own lines for the competition, making trail building an important aspect of the event.

Since 2001, Red Bull Rampage has attracted the best freeride mountain bikers in the world to compete in the Utah desert. The brand hosted its first women’s-only freeride event, dubbed Formation, in 2019. The event returned in 2021 and 2022 but was “postponed” and eventually canceled in 2023. Many had hoped Red Bull would include its first female competitors in last year’s Rampage event and were disappointed with the all-male start list.

Proving Grounds, another freeride event, has allowed women to compete since 2019, when Casey Brown became the first woman to compete in a major men’s freeride competition.
