As the resident–and likely, lone–stage racer here at Singletracks, I’m always on the look out for fun and challenging events. The Singletrack 6–formerly the Trans Rockies Challenge–has been on my wish list for a few years now. The organizers have confirmed the dates and stages for the 2016 edition.
All six of the stages take place in far eastern British Columbia, near the border with Alberta. Stages 1 and 2 will start in Fernie; 3 in Cranbrook; 4 in Kimberley; and the final two stages will take place in Golden. The race begins July 23rd. While I did the BC Bike Race a couple years ago, I have not yet had the chance to ride any of BC’s interior. From the pictures, it looks absolutely incredible. Be sure to check out the details from Jeff and Greg’s 2014 trip to nearby Banff for a taste of the Canadian Rockies.
Registration for the race itself is currently $1,500. From there, you can choose to add a meal plan and lodging. Should you want to make your own arrangements for lodging, they have a list of supporting partner hotels in each finish town that are offering discounts to racers.
