The Pro’s Closet (TPC), founded in 2006, announced today they are calling it quits and that “everything must go.” The online cycling retailer, based in Louisville, Colorado, sold both new and certified pre-owned bikes and accessories, offering 30-day returns and a buyback guarantee program.

An email from TPC says in part, “Thank you for joining us on this amazing ride. Because of all of you, we had an amazing 18 years of changing the way people buy bikes.”

According to Crunchbase and reporting in Bicycle Retailer, the Pro’s Closet raised upwards of $50M over the years, including $40M in 2021, and had between 51 and 100 employees at last check.

As a part of the wind-down, the TPC has discounted remaining inventory up to 75% off. A quick check shows big discounts on SRAM and Shimano components, Fox wearables, and shocks from the other Fox, with smaller discounts on pre-owned bikes and gear. It’s also worth noting that few electronics, like GPS units and bike lights, are currently listed on the site. Presumably, these items are already gone, or it’s possible they are being sold on other third-party platforms in order to maximize sale prices.

In addition, TPS is no longer buying used bikes from consumers saying, “Thanks for your interest! We’re hitting the brakes on accepting more bikes right now though.”

The Pro’s Closet and Singletracks are in an affiliate partnership, though as of today Singletracks is no longer receiving a commission on any purchases made through affiliate links.

In April of this year, online retailers Planet Cyclery and Colorado Cyclist also closed their virtual doors after many years in business.
