Kids are great, but the problem is they are constantly outgrowing their gear. The new Scott Future Pro Ransom not only looks like a great bike for young rippers, but with the ability to swap between 24- and 26-inch wheels, it’s also future-proof.
The Future Pro Ransom features an aluminum frame with 130mm of rear suspension with a 140mm fork up front. Scott says the X-Fusion suspension is tuned for lightweight riders and the bike also includes a kid-size dropper post.
A flip-chip system allows it to accommodate either 24- or 26-inch wheels, growing the bike with the rider — or shrinking it for a younger sibling. There are two builds of the Future Pro Ransom based around either wheel size. While the frame only comes in one size, Scott says the Future Pro Ransom 400, based around the smaller wheel size, should fit kids ages 8-11, or riders who are about four feet tall. The Future Pro Ransom 600 with 26-inch wheels is for riders age 11 and up, and up to roughly five feet tall.
According to Scott both versions weigh about 30lbs (plus or minus) and retail for $1,699. While that price might seem a little steep for a kid’s bike, it’s less than one might expect to pay for an entry-level full-suspension adult bike.
