Not all mountain bike grips are perfectly round. Some, like those in the Ergon GP series, have a nearly flat profile on the ends, while others have a more subtle, but still non-circular profile. Depending on your bike, style of riding, bar setup, or body dimensions, you may find one style of grip works better than another.
