Mountain bikers can be forgiven for thinking the Canyon Lux Trail bike is well, a trail bike. With the latest update, the Lux Trail gains an extra 5mm of rear suspension travel, but Canyon makes it clear this is still an XC bike. Singletracks tested the Canyon Lux Trail earlier this year, and here’s what’s changed.
Canyon Lux Trail frame specs
The new Canyon Lux Trail frame is designed around 29er wheels with 120mm of suspension travel up front and 115mm in the rear. Canyon is only making the bike in carbon, with two different grades available; CFR is the lighter weight version, while CF frames weigh a bit more. Size medium CFR frames are said to weigh under 2kg at just 1996g.
All of the frames see new in-tube storage and also a mount below the top tube for attaching quick-access tools. Plus there’s room inside the frame for mounting not just one but two water bottles.
The Canyon Lux Trail boasts all new suspension kinematics and a layout that appears to tuck the rear shock in closer to the top tube than the previous version thanks to an all new hanging rocker. Canyon says the updated design improves small bump sensitivity. Size specific suspension tunes are employed to optimize performance.
The cockpit looks much more refined as well, at least on the CFR build shown here, with cable routing through the stem and no visible steering radius limiter.
Looking at the geometry, the Canyon Lux Trail gets a much steeper seat tube angle, up a degree and a half to 76°. The head angle gets a bit slacker at 67° while the 435mm chainstay length stays the same, as does the reach.

Builds, pricing, and availability
