Have You Purchased a New MTB in the Past Year?

We suspect it's a "new bike year" for a lot of mountain bikers this year.

Mountain bike supplies are plentiful once again and discounts are too. Now is as good a time as any to pick up a new mountain bike, and we’re curious to know how many folks have taken advantage recently. (Plenty of bikes are still on sale for those who are looking.)

Added.a Transition Relay XX AXS to keep my Santa Cruz Hightower CC XX1 AXS company when I'm not riding one of them. Great combination of dentist bikes. But I'm not a dentist. I just make poor life choices!

But they are both damn amazing bikes!

Maybe a gravel bike next but it must have a dropper. And maybe a little suspension fork. I know, getting into hardtail land now, but I think it would be fun. And I'm too old and fragile for full rigid.

After researching for a good month I bought an Orbea OIZ M-LTD. I never thought buying a new MTB would be so difficult especially when I kept on hearing about overstock. Im in southern California and none of the local Orbea carrying bike shops would be able to order or get one for me (not the bike shops fault). I had to order online from Orbea and choose from one of 3 available bike shops, 2 of which were out of state.

I set up my order on the Orbea website, to be sent to a shop in Northern California and a day or 2 later it said it would be going to a dealer in Utah. This was back in March with an estimated ship date of a 2-3 weeks later. On the estimated shipping day, they would push it out by 1-2 weeks, this kep repeating until Orbea finally shipped it to the Utah bike shop mid-July.

After riding a great Trek hardtail for 7 years, I bought a 2023 Top fuel 8 XT. It is absolutely incredible. It drops, corners and climbs like a goat. The most amazing mountain bike I have ever ridden.

Alchemy Arktos 135. Crazy value for what is spec'd on it. And it rides great, too. It's a surprisingly good climber and it has a very stable feel to it. It eats up whatever I throw at it.

I actually bought a dirt jumper. A community very close to me put in a large asphalt pump track and so I bought an Airborne Cro Hawk. The pump track is more fun with a bike like that. Having it nearby is great for after rains when the trails haven’t dried out yet. All the workout in half the time too

I purchased a brand new Soma valhallen 29er trail bike 10 months ago. Around March when spring was just beginning to spring. Love that little bike. Well, it's not so little. I'm kind of a big guy. It's an extra large so what is that about? A 60 cm.
Upgraded the wheel set and change the shifters around to a twist shifter. Really like that on the one by 11:00.

I replaced my 2017 Trek Fuel ex8 with the G6 version and I couldn't be happier. The new Fuel EX8 is a superb bike that handles up and down beautifully.
Where I live in Sydney we have technical single tracks and since I have the new bike I am a much better rider

Orbea Rise M20... To dominate the roughest trails I can find. I feel like Superman every time I ride it, compared to my 2 year old Giant Stance. Even with many upgrades.

Picked up a Marin Alpine Trail Carbon 2. The Biggest travel bike for me. Knew it would rip on the down ,but the biggest surprise was that it climbs better than my short travel bike. Both are no light weight rigs -difference is a much steeper seat tube Angle. Really made the climbing go better.

Don't know where you live , but e bikes in Az and the west are more and more accepted here as long as they are class 1. Even if areas are supposedly off limits, I just about NEVER get questioned as long as I ride respectfully and keep the speed controlled. My contention is that hot dogs who like to slide out and tear up trails are more likely on an analog bike than an e bike. They are the problem.

Not everyone lives or rides in AZ 115deg heat... Try riding on MT Tam now... or many trails in Washington... c'mon man... let be honest here... Bay area is horrible...Santa Cruz horrible... even non electric riders are hassling EMTB riders... its like snowboarders and skiers... read some social medial forums and posts... thanks for the open mind tho... but its not all sunny ...
