The North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) kicked off in Connecticut today, and Moots is introducing what they’re calling Premium and Signature finishes on their titanium bike frames. The new, colorful accents are notable because they’re not just decals. Instead, Moots has developed various anodizing, etching, bead blasting, and polishing processes to create these eye-popping finishes and touches. In the past, Moots–like other titanium mountain bike manufacturers–has focused on understated, neutral silver, gray, white, and black graphics, so this is a big change.

At NAHBS, Moots is also showing a prototype softail gravel bike that is based around the company’s rather unique YBB platform. The unnamed bike is designed to run either 700c or 27.5 wheels and tires. As both recreational gravel riding and racing become more popular, riders are looking for ways to take some of the sting out of bumpy roads, and the limited travel of a softail should take the edge off without compromising efficiency too much.
