Pivot Cycles has been making big waves with their 2014 releases, so I was stoked to chat with Lisa Cramton, their head of marketing, about all of the changes and innovations in the Pivot lineup this year.
Pivot has claimed the notable of achievement of being the first mountain bike company to release a production bike that’s designed specifically for Shimano XTR Di2: the new carbon Mach 4. Barely edging out Rocky Mountain with their Thunderbolt, the new Mach 4 is a sleek XC rig with every bell and whistle you can imagine:
With 27.5″ wheels, 115mm of rear wheel travel, and the claimed lowest standover height of any full suspension 27.5 bike, the Mach 4 is light and is meant for going fast!
The Pivot Mach 5.7 won the Interbike People’s Choice Upgrade: Mountain award, although based on the criteria, it seems like the “people” don’t really seem to know what an upgrade is. Regardless, the Mach 5.7 has proven to be a very versatile bike, with riders able to swap the 26″ wheels out for a set of 27.5″ wheels+fork very easily (although I have to note that the actual “upgrade” would be the wheels+fork, not the bike). In fact, the conversion is so easy and so successful that Pivot has started selling the standard Mach 5.7 frame already setup as a 27.5 rig.
Pivot’s brand-new carbon downhill bike, the Phoenix, is one of the first breed of 27.5 downhill rigs. This carbon fiber wonder bike is beautifully designed and insanely light.
Finally, while the Mach 6 isn’t new for this year, Pivot is still getting caught up on the massive back log of orders on this exceedingly popular bike. So if you’ve been lusting after a Mach 6, now may be the time to finally pick one up! But just don’t take my word for it: read Jeff’s short review of the Mach 6 here.
