There are stash tools designed to fit inside your handlebars, bottom bracket spindle, and steerer tube; basically, anywhere on the bike with a hole. Recently, Robert Axle Project found another bike hole to fill: the front axle. And they’re plugging that hole with a tire plug tool.
The tire plug tool is designed to fit 15mm Robert Axle Project thru axles like this one, and also Chris King M14 and M15 thru axles. It’s made in Oregon and is designed to be preloaded with a plug for quick application. The tool comes with five “bacon strip” plugs, though it appears the extra plugs will need to be stored elsewhere.

As far as we can tell, this is the first (or maybe second) stash tool designed to fit inside a 15mm front thru-axle. Wolf Tooth has a QR-lever stash tool called the Axle Handle that’s designed to attach to a 12mm rear axle, and it sounds as if it might be possible to use it on a 15mm front axle as well. The Wolf Tooth is a true multi-tool, though it doesn’t include a tire plug tool.
Robert Axle Project says the $34 tool with a single plug weighs 8g. Get more info and order online from the Robert Axle Project website.
