Mountain bike jerseys come in all shapes, sizes, and styles now. Which one do you prefer for trail riding?

For so many reasons, it’s a great time to be a mountain biker. Not the least of which: jerseys come in all shapes and sizes now! Sure, three pocket jerseys are convenient and aerodynamic, but it’s hard to beat the comfort of a classic t-shirt made from high-tech, sweat-wicking materials.

As much as I would love to own some of the cool MTB specific clothing I wear the $9.99 tech workout shirts from Walmart. Several colors, breath well and although the fabric can get some snags (only $10!) they hold up well to crashes. Scraped my shoulder pretty good but the shirt was not damaged. I also prefer light weight stretchy cargo shorts from Wrangler Outdoors and bought a couple really light and stretchy cargo shorts from Columbia 50% off. Like was said a lot of the MTB clothing is way overpriced. I like the looks of it but can't justify paying that much.

Cycling specific clothing is scam by the industry to get you to pay for something that is nearly, if not, identical to something that is general athletic wear.

It's a small detail but I've found that the length and drop tail design of mtb specific jerseys is a nice feature that normal athletic shirts don't offer. I also appreciate heavier duty materials that more dh focused mtb shorts are made of, which hold up to crashes better than the material of everyday hiking or outdoors shorts.

I run a mix of styles, Tech T’s, DH 3/4 & long sleeve, and Button down/western. The one not listed is hooded fishing/sun shirts, I live in the desert and for big (40+ mi) rides this is my go to.

Ultra stylish jerseys from Italian professional soccer teams with my favorite players' names on them. Perfect fit and wicking and shows other riders my first love.

A nice, well ventilated mesh jersey works wonders for staying cool.
Football fan jerseys from Epic Sports are 12-15 bux and quite worthy. Annnnd, colors.
Cannot bring myself to buy OP'd clothing.

Because I have run countless running races (5k to 50 miles) and triathlons (sprint to full 140.6), I wear those "free" tech shirts they give you with the race. They are comfortable, breathe well, and really confuse people. Nobody expects the guy wearing a Wildflower triathlon shirt to send it over the biggest gaps at the bike park 😂

I ride in temps up to 40 c (104f).
I wear long sleeve, highly vented “jerseys” from Fox or Leatt.
Keeps more sun off, and covers my elbow guards (I ride where there are lots of sharp rocks)

I'm in my 3/4 length jerseys both on and off the bike. I get them on sale and just wear them as casual shirts as well as for riding cause they're what I find most comfortable
