Boutique, renaissance bike brand Canfield has two new 29ers out today, the 138mm travel Tilt and the 163mm travel Lithium.
“We’re stoked to introduce new bikes that combine big wheels with the magic of CBF suspension and legendary Canfield performance,” said Lance Canfield, owner and designer. “I’ve been working on dialing these in for a long time and they are exactly the bikes I wanted to build. I can’t wait for everyone to ride them.”
The Lithium is a long-travel 29er with 163mm of travel in the rear, managed by the Canfield Balance Formula (CBF) linkage. Up front is a 170mm fork. Canfield says the bike is home anywhere from backcountry adventures to an enduro race. The rear travel can be adjusted too via its shock stroke for a reduction to 151mm.
Canfield optimized the geo for fun and quick handling as well, with 430mm chainstays. On the medium size, the Lithium has 450mm of reach (+/- 25mm each size up or down), a 739mm standover height, a 1,221mm wheelbase, a 64.5° HTA, and 76.7° STA.
The Lithium comes in four size: S-XL and aluminum framesets start at $2,200, but Canfield has special pricing for pre-orders, dropping $200 off the price. They are also selling the framesets with a fork option for $3,400 ($3,050 for preorder) and $5,200 for a complete ($4,900 for preorder.) Completes include Ohlins suspension, a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain and the choice of Magura or TRP brakes.
The Tilt is a mid-travel 29er with 138mm of travel that can be reduced to 125mm via its shock stroke. Geometry has been optimized for “the perfect balance of snappy, responsive handling and stability at speed.” On a medium Tilt, the reach is 450mm (+/- 25mm each size up or down), with a 730mm standover height, a 1,198mm wheelbase, a 65° HTA, a 77° STA, and 425mm chainstays.
The Tilt comes with a Cane Creek Helm fork and Kitsuma air shock, and competes have a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, and the choice between Magura or TRP brakes. Framesets start at $2,100 ($1,900 for preorder), frame and forksets are $2,900 ($2,650 for preorder) and completes are $4,600 ($4,300 for preorder).
