Five Ten and their parent company, Adidas, are working to replace all virgin polyesters with recycled materials for their product lineups by 2024. They’re kicking off that commitment by using recycled materials in every flat-peddaler’s favorites, the Freeride and Freeride Pro shoes.
These new models are said to maintain their renowned pedal grip qualities and construction characteristics, while the upper will be made of Primeblue Parley Recycled Ocean Plastic. The material is made of plastic collected from the waters surrounding remote islands.
Adidas also says “Five Ten is launching a new riding apparel line, which utilizes Parley Ocean Plastic, Primegreen recycled polyester, and BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton.” It’s great to see companies that make outdoor gear moving toward reducing pollution and recycled materials.
The new Freeride and Freeride Pro are available online and at your local dealer for $100 and $150 respectively. We will share additional info on the coming Five Ten clothing line when it’s available.
