New SRAM AXS Rocker Paddle Makes Electronic Shifting Feel Familiar

The new electronic SRAM AXS Rocker Paddle seeks to mimic the feel of a mechanical shifter.

Wouldn’t if be cool if you could have programmed the buttons on a Nintendo controller to command different functions? Move sequences like “Up, down, start, A, B, Up” in the game could have been sped up to finish a level before it was time to flip that mouthwatering grilled-cheese sandwich.

The electronic controller in SRAM’s AXS electronic shifter can be programmed to suit your mood via the AXS app, now with a classic two-paddle actuation to mimic the mechanical shifter feel. The new “AXS Rocker Paddle” can replace the stock buttons for €/$20, and new shift levers with the two-paddle-design retail for €/$200.

Katy Winton, Trek Factory Racing rider, says, “I love the new paddle option. It feels more intuitive coming from a traditional shifter and still maintains that effortless gear changing.”
