Bontrager has a new steerer tube stash tool called the BITS Integrated MTB Tool. The BITS has a bolted compression fitting that is used in place of a star nut on the inside of the fork. The system then plugs into the steerer tube, putting a little multi-tool out of sight, and in the bike at all times. The BITS tool doesn’t require the fork to be threaded or altered, and the compression fitting keeps the tool secure and quiet.
“This system is perfect for trail riders who want to keep their pockets light or prefer not wearing a pack or using a seat bag,” said Michael Fitch, Trek’s Director of Product for Essentials. “It’s light, easy to install, and ensures your trail tools are always there when you need them.”
In the multi-tool is a bunch of different hex bits, a screwdriver, chain breaker, and space for a quick link. The BITS should be able to fit on most frame sizes and steerer tube lengths, but isn’t compatible on forks with carbon steerers, or threaded headsets.
The Bontrager BITS is available now and at Trek Bikes dealers for $90.
