Cotic Cycles announced the retirement of their well loved Soul 27.5″ hardtail, and just like that they are adding another hardcore hardtail to the lineup. The new BfeMAX (pronounced Beefy MAX) frame rolls on 29″ wheels front and rear, and it’s designed around a 140mm fork with the option to squish on over to 160mm.
As we have come to expect from Cotic, the BfeMAX frames are made from top quality Reynolds steel, with an 853 downtube, chromoly rear triangle, and Cotic’s custom formed Ovalform top tube. All of the bike’s cables, housing, and BB bearings are kept on the outside for easy service and swaps. The rear triangle tubes leave room for a 2.6″ tire with mud clearance to spare.
With two fork length options for the BfeMAX frame, we decided to save some typing and let you peruse the geometry tables below. By looking at the numbers we can say that the reach and seatstays look well balanced for stable descending performance, and the low BB drop should pare well with that down-plow focus at either travel. For folks who mount up a fork from Cane Creek, Formula, Manitou, or another brand that offers internal, tool-free travel adjust, this frame holds a wide range of versatility.
BfeMAX frames are available today for £549 (approximately €630 / US$623), and Cotic says “delivery is included within the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada. We ship anywhere in the world at an additional cost.”
Full bike pricing is as follows.
£1,849 / approx EUR 2,125 / approx US$1,925 for the SLX based Silver build
£2,699 / approx EUR 3,110 / approx US$2,810 for the Gold Eagle GX bike
