Nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains east of LA sits the idyllic little hamlet of Idyllwild, which is bordered by an idyllic trail network that is an absolute gem. The Idyllwild trails truly have something for everyone, from seemingly endless cross country treks through pristine ponderosa forest to mad, rad, and ripping downhills with big opportunities for big air.  This is one of those places I could live and never tire of riding.

What’s not to love about a 3,000 vertical foot drop through distinct life zones over everything from wide open, buffed singletrack to gnar-strewn rock gardens and huckortunities galore?  As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also the opportunity to spend a few hours poking around the Laguna Mountains before heading for the plummet. San Diego may not have a lot of top quality singletrack in close proximity, but this one ride alone made it worth the trip.
