The Presidents of the USA song “Cleveland Rocks” was once just a sarcastic jab at the Forest City but it now looks like Cleveland may actually rock some midtown mountain bike trails in the near future. A million dollar bike trail is being planned in town and the organizers are in line for a $100K grant from the state to get things started.
This is great news for riders in Cleveland and I hope it points to a broader trend of moving recreational facilities for mountain bikers closer to urban centers. Urban trails would mean fewer gas-guzzling trips out to the trails plus kids would have a place close by to learn to ride off road. Forget adding a new paved rail-to-trail project – we want dirt!
