Rito Seco Park opens in Colorado with 8 miles of MTB trails
San Luis Valley Great Outdoors held a grand opening for eight miles of new multi-use trails near San Luis, Colorado. Sage Advice and Costilla Coast are two of the named trails located in the park.
Rocky Face Ridge Park and Buzzard’s Roost are RTR
Northwest Georgia SORBA held a ribbon cutting for 10.2 miles of trails and a trailhead complete with restrooms at Rocky Face Ridge Park and Buzzard’s Roost near Dalton late last month. Professional trail builder Barry Smith built the trails, along with volunteers, supported by $300K in funding.
New trails in Knoxville
The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club recently opened four new mountain bike trails at William Hastie Natural area in Knoxville. Two of the new trails are rated expert, while the other two are beginner- and intermediate-rated for a total of about two miles of fresh singletrack.
Lift-served MTB trails coming to Dodge Ridge resort
Dodge Ridge Resort in California is opening new, lift-served mountain bike trails for the first time this weekend. Riders can access the green-rated, Around the Horn trail, and Trailscape is building out more advanced and technical trails to round out the bike offerings.
Mulberry Gap offering free and reduced-price stays for TNGA volunteers
The grand depart for the annual Trans North Georgia bikepacking race is coming August 19, and Mulberry Gap adventure camp is gearing up to support riders as they roll through. Volunteers have the opportunity to stay and eat for free during their shifts August 21-24.
“Racers arrive around the clock at Mulberry Gap and our staff and volunteer crew is there to offer welcome services like showers, laundry, camping, bunk house bunks, short order food (paninis, wraps, protein shakes, etc.), basic mechanic services, and more. We are an rider oasis. It’s not glamorous work, but it keeps everything running.” More info and signups here.
New 1.75-mile trail added to Palmer Woods in Michigan
In 2021 eight miles of new MTB trails were built at Palmer Woods, and this summer another 1.75-mile trail was added. The trail, Swallowtail, traverses a new section of the reserve that was recently acquired.
Marina, California pump track under construction
The SCMTS recently shared photos from the construction of a new pump track in Marina, California, just north of Monterey. Completion date is still TBD.
